Contains: songs and incantations from the Middle Ages and today.
Effect: bewitchment...... Ancient and contemporary murmurings, sound transmutations, vocal improvisations, perambulations: a judicious mix of musical ingredients.
Warning: can lead to addiction to contemporary music...
Ingredients:
To begin the ritual, music from the Middle Ages :
• 1 motet-conductus from the Codex de las Huelgas
• 3 motets from the Llibre Vermell de Montserrat
• 2 dances from the Llibre Vermell de Montserrat
• 1 canon from the Reliquary of English Song
To consecrate the spell, contemporary music :
• Four choruses for children's voices by Maurice Ohana
• Sauh IV by Giacinto Scelsi
• Ave Maria and Alléluia by Giacinto Scelsi
• Memento Mori by Daniel Alvarado
• Improvisations (to connect it all)
The preparation
1 Mix a medieval monody with a twentieth century double canon, a motet-conductus with a contemporary lullaby, an Afro-Cuban incantation with spectral music, and a danse macabre with a recent composition.
2 Leave the medieval monodies to stand using a little contemporary music. You will thus obtain old composition techniques suited to a modern musical language.
3 Finally, let it resonate for 50 minutes without a break in a space where witches and enchantresses wander around, appropriating the place. This potion with its surprising effects is the product of an alchemy of ancient and contemporary music, in a timeless fusion of sacred and pagan music.

This show is intended for a family audience; it will be a moment of suspension in time, sound environments and shared glances. An alchemy that reflects the voices that come together and sing of the acceptance of others, the beauty of difference and the strength of mind of women.
Without pause or interval, the ancient and contemporary murmurs, the sound transmutations, vocal improvisations, perambulations and the personified sound effects will reveal a sophisticated mix of musical ingredients.
Created in July 2018 as part of the Création en Cours programme of the Ateliers Médicis, this show has already enchanted the eyes and ears of children and adults alike and continues to spread its addictive power over contemporary music…
