Allegria !
Medieval and contemporary music to accompany pilgrimages

Crossroads, ideas in motion, memories transformed: the ideal of pilgrimage and the initiatory quest at the origin of inner change inspire men, women and composers of different times and places.

The road to ALLEGRIA is lined with music that pays homage to the strength of spirit and the timelessness and diversity of spirituality, for, like Jerusalem, thrice-holy city, ALLEGRIA is a cultural crossroads. It is a place where medieval and contemporary works dialogue, intermingle, inspire, amuse and confront each other.

Cantigas, troubadour songs, women's poems and dances in honor of the Virgin are the starting point of this journey. Soprano voice, recorder, lute, bowed viols and percussion are the companions on this journey. They fuse written music with acoustic and mixed improvisations using real-time sound processing. With poetry, passion and respect, they sublimate the distinctive sonorities of medieval instruments with those of electronics.

In this way, ancient and modern compositions circulate in a cyclical movement that erases all boundaries, allowing us to better appreciate their specificities, differences and commonalities.

ALLEGRIA is a place and a time for musical encounters, introspection, otherness and the expression of joy.
