An interweaving of Early and contemporary music that sublimates the essence of both. This alchemy dissolves boundaries to produce a distinctive texture and to create a moment, suspended in time, of surprise, reverie and delight.
Not so much a layering of styles, as a journey into transmutation, a retelling, a historically informed interpretation that enhances our delight in the blend of the early source with the vibrant, surging and stirring sensibility of the contemporary perspective.
Voices, period instruments, spatial settings and in many cases electronics are pushed beyond their usual functions through various techniques, arrangements and new compositions, in a quest for a direct and tangible link with the other.
Traditional and popular music also feature in our programmes to provide another form of auditory tribute to diversity and humanity’s rich musical heritage
